夏だけオープンする日本の風物詩だ。日本人の多くはこの『海の家』にいろいろな思いでがある。錦糸町駅の前にある『磯丸水産』は「都会にいながら海の家」に来たような、プチ旅気分を味わえるお店だ。店内には水槽で元気に泳ぐ魚たちや、大漁旗、ちょうちん、トロ箱、丸イス、 レトロなポスターなどがひしめいて、まるで漁港の街にワープしたような気分!

祭神は天照大御神・宇迦之御魂神。平安時代後期、源頼義・義家父子による奥州遠 征(前九年の役)で数々の武勲を立てた家臣『猿藤太』は武勇の士と讃えられたが、此の地の入江で力尽きた。地元の漁師達は手厚く葬り、当社の境内に塚を建 て葬ったが、猿藤太の「猿」と入江の「江」の字を取り結び「猿江」の社名になったと伝えられる。創立年代は不詳だが康平年中(1058)頃には近在の信仰 を集め、稲荷社として境内地5百余坪を有したという。昭和21年に伊勢大御神を合祀して社名を猿江神社に改称した後も「猿江のお稲荷さん」として親しまれている。

3年に1度の本祭りの年(2008)には土曜日に社殿で祭礼、日曜日に神幸祭が行われ午前8時に猿田彦を先頭に、神職・お囃子の後に古式のまま行列が神 社から出発し、町会神輿の連合渡御を伴って氏子町会を巡幸し午前11時ごろ神社に戻る。2008年は猿江2丁目と住吉1丁目町会の神輿が神幸祭連合杜御に 参加したが午後には各町会神輿、山車がそれぞれの各町会を練り、両日とも境内で奉納踊りほか色々な行事が催され沢山の屋台が出て祭りは賑わう。

WIMG_0849 WIMG_0851 WIMG_0856 WIMG_0857江東区は水彩都市だ。現在は埋め立てにより海岸が若洲にあるが、かつては現在の内陸部が海岸線であった。江東区役所沿岸部と逆の方向に『海辺』という住所があり、これはそのときの名残だ。 また『木場』という地名は、その名のとおり貯木場があった場所。 当時は運河を用いて木材を運んでいたのだから江東区が運河の町であったことがうかがえる。 そんな江東区はかつての技術や歴史を伝えるために和船の乗船を無料で行っている。 江東区がバックアップし、主にボランティアスタッフで活動しているため無料のようだ。

小 名木川クローバー橋は、 猿江、大島、北砂、扇橋の4つの地区を、小名木川と横十間川の合流点で結び、地域社会に快適な生活と人と文化の交流を提供できるランドマークとしての意義 が深い橋として計画されました。完成は平成6年12月、歩行者と自転車専用橋です。橋の真ん中に四つ葉のクローバーが描かれていて、ロケ地としてもしばし ば利用されています。
